**EMFs – A RISING CONCERN: Just as we have
been renewing our focus on pesticides after being
contacted by a concerned Rhode Islander, we will
be responding to suggestions recently raised to us
about EMFs (Electromagnetic Fields). It’s a serious
and growing health issue, being discussed and
addressed by reliable and informed resources.
See several items on this topic in today’s TIP TALKS.
Note that even Mayors are taking it seriously!

**OTHER TIP MATTERS: There is a great need to update our website, as more and more good information cries to be shared and quick links are the best means. Unfortunately, our usual Legislative Grant was eliminated this year for political reasons, despite the small amount - $1,500. This was very needed support for our activities, especially the web work.

Unlike many organizations, we don’t pester folks with multiple calls for money, but I do ask today that anyone who can contribute any amount, please – this is the time. Any donations are tax-deductible. See the bottom of this message for details and ways to benefit TIP while shopping or surfing! Blessings, Liberty G

CALIFORNIA PASSES FLAME RETARDANT BILL
DESPITE INDUSTRY PROTESTS
https://chemicalwatch.com/69994/california-passes-flame-retardant-bill-despite-industry-protests
August 30, 2018 Chemical Watch
California’s legislature has passed a bill banning
the use of most flame retardants in children’s products,
mattresses and upholstered furniture, over the objection of industry groups. The Assembly voted 52-12 on August 29 to concur in Senate amendments to the measure
(AB 2998). Their vote sends the bill to the governor’s
desk, where it is expected to be signed into law.

According to the bill’s supporters, flame retardants have been "needlessly used" in products despite their links to cancer, developmental and reproductive toxicity, and endocrine disruption. California’s law "will serve as a model for the nation to follow", said Alvaro Casanova, California policy manager for the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) – one of the bill’s co-sponsors.

"Flame-retardant chemicals offer little added fire safety benefit, but exposure to smoke that carries these toxins increases the already substantial risk our firefighters face from job-related cancer," said Brian Rice, president of California Professional Firefighters (CPF), which also backed the bill.

https://takebackyourpower.net/us-conference-of-mayors-will-sue-fcc-if-they-eliminate-local-control-over-5g-deployments/
An alliance of more than 300 U.S. mayors has said
it will sue the FCC if they continue with plans to
forcibly deploy 5G upon cities who do not want it.

TELL THE NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION:
NO MORE MONSANTO ROUND-UP WEEDKILLER!
Petition To be delivered to Frank C. Pugh, President,
National School Boards Association & All National School
Boards Association Board Members
As the organization representing the top decision-makers at U.S. school districts, you have a responsibility to millions of parents and school children to protect children from harm. In light of the latest evidence that Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller causes cancer, the National School Board Association must do these two things:

One, issue a formal policy statement advising all
school districts to end the use of Roundup and
all toxic agro-chemicals on school grounds.

Two, issue a formal policy statement advising all
school districts to revamp their school lunch programs
by transitioning to certified organic foods, in order to
avoid serving foods contaminated with glyphosate
and other pesticides. SIGN THE PETITION HERE:

CELL PHONE INFO & SURVEY FROM
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING GROUP (EWG)
Do you use a cell phone? What about your kids?
Then you need to know about a brand new study
that links cellphone radiation to memory performance problems in children and teens. It confirmed results
first published in 2015.

Lib Note: One description of the new study can be found here: www.naturalhealth365.com/cell-phone-emf-pollution-2676.html

Study after study links cellphone radiation to long-term health risks like brain cancer and sperm damage, but more research needs to be done. Most of the science focuses on old technology, like 2G. EWG has been advocating for further studies and arming consumers with tips for safer cellphone use since 2009. They are ready to keep fighting for more research on cellphone radiation.

Take their quick survey here– your responses will help them continue their work on cell phone radiation.

** CLEVER CONSUMER (That’s you!) CAMPAIGN REMINDER: TIP TALKS seeks to increase your consumer IQ & abilities. Remember, if you tell the supplier, retailer, or producer what you will or won’t BUY, they care. (Also share your knowledge with friends & family)

QUICK TIP: GMO Labels are blossoming –if none on the shelf, examine the product info details. Example – some flavors of Haagen Daas ice cream have a small circle on the container with “No GMOs” in it. Friendly’s has a separate “Naturally” ice cream version that says “No GMOs” on it. (Sadly, no response yet to customer disgust at Ben & Jerry’s glyphosate contamination, and calls for them
to go Organic are unheeded)

TELL ACE HARDWARE: STOP SELLING DEADLY
PAINT STRIPPERS IMMEDIATELY!
Deadly household paint products remains on Ace Hardware's shelves even though four people have died after being exposed to the toxic chemicals they contain since the EPA proposed a ban last year. Despite repeated calls to stop selling these products, Ace Hardware, one of the nation's largest home improvement chains, continues to sell popular paint strippers containing methylene chloride and N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP), which are
highly toxic chemicals linked to lung and liver cancer,
fetal development issues, miscarriage, stillbirth and neurotoxicity.

Thanks in part to more than 50,000 CREDO members
and continued activism by our allies like Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families, major retailers like Lowe's, The Home Depot, Sherwin-Williams and Walmart have already
caved to massive public pressure and announced plans
to discontinue selling these toxic products.
We must speak out now to demand Ace follows suit
and stops selling these deadly paint strippers now. https://act.credoaction.com/sign/ace_paint?t=5&akid=30189%2E7537451%2EpcvIHc
