This Contest supports TIP’s “Less Toxic Landscaping” Campaign by addressing the three big questions about Less Toxic Landscaping:  WHAT is it?  HOW can it be done?  WHY care?  We hope to collect helpful, informative materials for passing along to neighbors, friends and family – and for inclusion in our upcoming LTL Resource Guide. The benefits will be felt in improved environment, human and animal health.

 

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: SEPTEMBER 15. 

 

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

 

(NOTE:  Teachers may submit Less Toxic Landscaping related lesson or activity plans for any category, or covering all three.) 

 

EXAMPLES OF HEALTHY LANDSCAPE DESIGN

 

Photographs, drawings, descriptions or models of attractive, interesting & healthy landscaping designs or plans, existing lawns and grounds, plantings or gardens. 

 

HOW-TO INFORMATION ON HEALTHY GARDENING & LANDSCAPING

 

“How-To” articles, tips; descriptions of LTL gardening methods & success stories.

 

WRITTEN OR VISUAL MATERIALS SUPPORTING THE CAMPAIGN & ITS GOALS

 

Posters, cartoons, “Why Less Toxic Landscaping?” articles or letters (to the editor, the neighbors, legislators, mayors, or us) about environmental and health effects of lawn pesticide use, and the advantages of creative landscaping alternatives and organic gardening.
